Cloth Cap is a hot favourite to claim Aintree glory but we’re seeking a bit more value with our Grand National 2021 tips.

With Tiger Roll denied the chance of matching Red Rum’s record of three victories in the Liverpool spectacular, there is an open look to the world’s most famous race this year.

Here are our three picks for punters to consider and their latest Grand National 2021 odds:

KIMBERLITE CANDY @ 14/1

Tom Lacey’s nine-year-old has already proven he goes well over these unique obstacles and ticks plenty of boxes for each-way punters.

He stayed on well when second of 18 behind Walk In The Mill in the 2019 Becher Chase and was runner-up to Vieux Lion Rouge in this winter’s renewal four months ago.

Although both of those efforts – and the majority of his other runs – came on soft ground, he is bred to appreciate a sounder surface, being a son of Flemensfirth.

MINELLA TIMES @ 9/1

Irish trainer Henry De Bromhead completed a historic Cheltenham Festival treble by landing Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and Gold Cup triumphs, so we’re keen to keep him on side here.

Minella Times travels over from the Emerald Isle following a cracking campaign, which began with a gutsy success at Listowel.

Since then, the eight-year-old has been second in a couple of valuable handicaps at Leopardstown, which both attracted 22 runners and could only be described as ultra-competitive, so he is battle-hardened and still on an upward curve in our book.

LORD DU MESNIL @ 40/1

Richard Hobson’s charge enjoyed a fine season as a novice last term, closing with form figures of 2211122 after a fine second to Ravenhill in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham.

Things didn’t go to plan for much of the current campaign but Lord Du Mesnil was back on song when winning a trial for this contest at Haydock in February, making all and battling on bravely to fend off the challenge of Achille.

Hobson gave the eight-year-old a spin in the Grand Sefton here in December to get acquainted with the fences and is now ready for the real test.

“Aintree has always been the plan – that’s why he had a prep run in the Sefton, over a shorter trip,” said Hobson. “He’s a staying chaser and this is the biggest staying chase of the year. That’s what he’s turned into, he’s proven that.”
