After trailing in Rangers’ wake for most of the season, Celtic may have come good at just the right time for Sunday’s Old Firm Scottish Cup clash.
The Hoops were hugely impressive when hitting Livingston for six on Premiership duty last weekend and should now be full of confidence for this contest.
We reckon 17/10 for an away win at Ibrox is a value bet for our first Rangers vs Celtic prediction.
A Look At Rangers’ Betting Odds
Rangers have already wrapped up a wide-margin league title triumph, picking up seven points from three derbies in that competition.
However, it was 1-1 when these sides met last month, on the back of Steven Gerrard’s side crashing out of the Europa League.
Sunday’s 2-1 Premiership success versus Hibs was only workmanlike and injuries to key figures like James Tavernier, Leon Balogun and Ryan Jack have taken a toll.
Filip Helander told RangersTV: “I think we controlled the game good in the first half and then started off quite well in the second half and got to 2-0.
“Then we conceded a goal and obviously that makes it harder. They get some energy and we had to really fight for it, but it was a victory and we have got to be happy with that.”
Rangers have won all 17 league games at home, keeping 14 clean sheets in the process and enjoying a 49-3 aggregate, so they can’t be opposed lightly.
This is a one-off tie, though, and 23/4 for Draw HT/Celtic FT catches the eye from the Rangers vs Celtic odds.
A Look At Celtic’s Betting Odds
Celtic are 20 points adrift of their arch-rivals but enjoyed a timely boost when thrashing Livingston 6-0 at Parkhead.
The Bhoys led at the interval through goals by winger James Forrest and midfielder David Turnbull before a second-half onslaught.
Scott Brown’s header via Livi defender Jack Fitzwater came before a terrific Mohamed Elyounoussi double and a late strike by substitute Ryan Christie.
“It has been building blocks for us in recent weeks in terms of building up performance,” commented caretaker boss John Kennedy.
“I felt this coming for the last few weeks. I thought we were going to score a few goals and give someone a bit of a hiding.
“This was a great example of that in terms of putting a performance in and putting it all together.
“We know if we are on our A game, we can cause Rangers huge problems, so it is a good game to come out of with scoring goals and having that extra bit of confidence.”
In our book, Celtic were marginally the better team in last month’s Old Firm stalemate and Kennedy is keen to prove a point here.
He added: “There always is (something to prove). I think last time we did in terms of performance, but now it is all about getting a result.”
Securing a fifth straight cup success would go some way towards making up for such a disappointing campaign.
Let’s finish off our Rangers vs Celtic betting tips by taking 10/1 for a 2-1 away victory.
