Liverpool and Chelsea are only separated by a single point in the Premier League table and a close encounter is on the cards when they meet at Anfield.

The Blues have lost a bit of their swashbuckling style under Thomas Tuchel but he has made them hard to beat, while the Reds are on the comeback trail following a rocky patch.

We think 13/5 for a draw on Merseyside is the way to go with our opening Liverpool vs Chelsea prediction.

A Look At Liverpool’s Betting Odds

Liverpool stopped the rot of four straight league defeats when picking up a much-needed domestic win at Sheffield United on Sunday.

Curtis Jones put the ailing champions ahead on 48 minutes and a Kean Bryan own goal midway through the second half made sure of the victory.

Beating the basement dwellers is hardly anything to shout about, but it was a show of spirit from the Reds, whose defensive injury crisis was compounded by keeper Alisson being absent on compassionate grounds.

“I was never in doubt about the togetherness of this team,” declared Jurgen Klopp.

“The world is like this. We win a game and we show togetherness, everybody speaks.

“We don’t win a game and (people say) we are not together. It’s not as easy as that.”

He added of the win: “It’s very big. We needed the points obviously to get in kind of contact with the teams above us, so it was very important.”

Liverpool will be hoping Sadio Mane can continue his good record versus Chelsea, with the Senegal ace having scored five times in their last six meetings.

Looking at the Liverpool vs Chelsea odds, we like 6/1 for Mane to break the deadlock.

Last Liverpool line-up: Adrian, Kabak, Robertson, Phillips, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Jones, Firmino, Mane, Salah.

A Look At Chelsea’s Betting Odds

Tuchel has yet to taste defeat in nine matches as Chelsea boss following a goalless stalemate with Manchester United on home turf.

Just two goals have been conceded in those games and Tuchel showed his coaching qualities in Sunday’s Stamford Bridge clash.

The Red Devils had the better of the first half, but some tactical tweaks enabled the Blues to be on top for much of the second period.

Tuchel said on Match of the Day: “We had the better chances and played high up the pitch in the second half.

“We had a very good reaction after half-time. We stepped up and got better and better with higher recoveries. We went for a win but it did not happen.

“In this highest level, at some points, maybe two big chances have to be enough. If you don’t do that then we have to be alert and aware of the counter-attacks and quality from Manchester United.

“We did this and defended very well. This was extraordinary effort and quality. We take it and go on.”

That draw came after a 1-0 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid so Tuchel is clearly content to keep things cagey in big games at this stage.

Let’s finish off our Liverpool vs Chelsea betting tips by taking 9/2 for the scores to be level at half-time and full-time.

Last Chelsea line-up: Mendy, Rudiger, Christensen, Chilwell, Azpilicueta, Kante, Kovacic, Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Giroud.
