Kick-off: 2000, 16/03/2021

Stadium: Puskas Arena

TV: BT Sport

Manchester City made light work of beating a struggling Borussia Monchengladbach side in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

That smooth 2-0 success meant the Blues have gone over 10 hours without conceding a single goal in Europe’s elite club competition.

We can’t see past 9/10 for another win to nil for our initial Man City vs Borussia Monchengladbach prediction on the second contest.

A Look At Manchester City’s Betting Odds

Two superb crosses from Joao Cancelo ended up with goals from Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus as City dominated the opening encounter in Budapest.

Ederson did have to save from Hannes Wolf following a late defensive error, but that was Monchengladbach’s only shot on target.

Pep Guardiola’s only complaint was that the Blues did not translate their superiority into an even more convincing scoreline.

“In general, we played really well but we were not clinical enough up front,” declared the Spaniard.

“The actions one against one – with the keeper, with the defenders – we have to be more clinical. You have to finish the action, at least make the keeper make a save and we didn’t do it.

“We created a lot of chances, we arrived in the final third, the process was good, but we have to finish better. In this competition, you have to improve.”

City suffered a recent derby blip versus neighbours United but otherwise they have been ruthless of late, beating Wolves, Southampton and Fulham by three-goal margins.

Looking at the Man City vs Borussia Monchengladbach odds, we like 8/5 for the Citizens to prevail by more than two clear goals here.

A Look At Borussia Monchengladbach’s Betting Odds

Monchengladbach coach Marco Rose admitted it had been a tough night for his side three weeks ago.

“We came up against a brutally good team that we had to fight against,” he commented. “In that type of form, they’re so hard to stop.

“Especially in the first half, we barely broke into the final third. We defended relatively well but it’s so hard when they keep throwing everything at you.”

Unfortunately, this tie has come at the wrong time for Borussia, who have fallen way below their early-season standards.

Friday’s 3-1 loss at Augsburg made it six straight defeats in all competitions for the Colts and it is hard to see a way back for them here.

Let’s finish off our Man City vs Borussia Monchengladbach betting tips by taking 13/2 for the runaway Premier League leaders to oblige 3-0 when returning to Puskas Arena.
